Overview

Aswan, a historic city along the Nile River, has served as a vital gateway to southern Egypt since ancient times. It’s home to significant archaeological sites, including the Philae Temple complex on Agilkia Island, near the famous Aswan Dam. Among Philae’s ruins is the stunning Temple of Isis, which dates back to the 4th century BC. Nearby, on Elephantine Island, lies the Temple of Khnum, an ancient structure from Egypt’s Third Dynasty.
